Escape from Jesus Island
My friend Shawn French is a writer and artist. His best known effort was creating a (hard core) indie-produced horror film named The Wrong House. Currently he’s involved in writing and organizing a graphic novel called Escape from Jesus Island, which has an interesting premise.
An attempt to clone Jesus eventually succeeds, but in the process creates scores of hideously deformed freaks and a monstrous twin brother, Damien. When the Vatican hears of Christ’s return and sends in an extraction team, all Hell breaks loose.
Shawn is working with excellent graphic artists to create this novel, and I think it will be a great success. They’re raising a fan base in creative ways as well, using Facebook as their primary landing page (their own URL re-directs to their FB page, as linked above).
One thing they’re doing, which I love, is offering their most committed fans the chance to become a character in the novel, with their “Make Me a Mutant Challenge”. If a fan brings 50 friends to “like” the Facebook page, artist Mortimer Glum will draw them into the book as one of the mutant horde. The results are fantastic, as you can see in the video below.
Shawn also has a trailer available, and if you like horror novels, I’m sure you’ll like this one too. And if you like the artwork, Morty takes commissions. Contact him at his Facebook page.
Very excited for the release. I am only 17 likes away from having my mutant in it. Besides that the story looks incredible and Glum’s artwork looks awesome.
Yeah, the artwork is fantastic. I hope you get your mutant! How cool is that?
